
Every morning, before coffee and before food, I make this. It takes three minutes. The warm water wakes up the digestive system, the lemon gives it a hit of vitamin C, and the ginger adds an anti-inflammatory kick that you actually feel. I noticed the difference when I stopped for a week.
Heat the water to warm but not boiling — boiling water destroys some of the vitamin C in the lemon. Add the ginger and let it steep for 2 minutes. Add the lemon juice. If using honey, stir it in at the end after the water has cooled slightly. Drink slowly.
